1See, amid the winter’s snow,
Born for us on earth below,
See, the tender Lamb appears,
Promised from eternal years!
Hail, thou ever-blessèd morn!
Hail, Redemption’s happy dawn!
Sing, through all Jerusalem,
Christ is born in Bethlehem!
2Lo, within a manger lies
He Who built the starry skies,
He Who, throned in height sublime,
Sits amid the Cherubim!
3Say, ye holy shepherds, say,
What your joyful news today;
Wherefore have ye left your sheep
On the lonely mountain steep?
4‘As we watched at dead of night,
Lo, we saw a wondrous light;
Angels singing, “Peace on earth,”
Told us of the Savior’s birth.’
5Sacred Infant, all divine,
What a tender love was Thine,
Thus to come from highest bliss
Down to such a world as this!
6Teach, oh teach us, holy child,
By Thy face so meek and mild,
Teach us to resemble Thee
In Thy sweet humility!
Isaiah53:7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
Luke2:7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
Luke2:15And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
Luke2:20And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
